We were admiring the changing scenery from woods and mountains to yellow fields, cruising eastward across Oregon. We connected our phones and streamed music from online, then jammed to the awesome mixes Jasmine had made for us back in Portland! Suddenly, we noticed the gas was very low, we assured ourselves that there would be somewhere soon. The orange empty light clicked on and we held our breathe, not knowing how long it would go while pulling the heavy trailer. We passed a sign for Rest Area: Dead Mans Pass. We pulled off and contemplated our options. We asked a nice old couple who were parked nearby in an RV if they had any gas or knew where the nearest gas station. They smiled but said they were driving the road for the first time too. We called Triple A and were promptly text messaged the time until the arrival of some gas. We had forty minutes to spare during which we wandered around the stop, people watching. The AAA man was not a friendly man, he made some critical comments as he poured four gallons of gas into our thirsty Honda. Not to be stopped! On to Boise, Idaho!
